How to prepare sushi rice

Buy the right kind of rice as the rice used to make sushi is different from the standard one that you buy at your local market. To make your own sushi rice, you should buy short grained rice. This variety of rice is the only type which will provide the correct stickiness you will need to create your sushi. Flavor the rice with some seasoning after it has been cooked nicely.

Put some drops of Japanese rice vinegar into a pot along with some granulated sugar and salt to taste and let heat it up. When the granulated sugar and salt dissolve, this mixture should be poured into the rice. The rice should be cool enough to safely handle it and also for some stickiness.

Preparing Homemade Sushi

Carefully place a sheet of nori on the sushi mat with the shiny portion facing down. Wet both of your hands with water and evenly spread the rice onto the sheet. Arrange sushi ingredients in the center of the nori. You can use the fish you like and your favorite vegetables. You need to cut the fish and vegetables thinly so as to bring out its true flavor. Add ginger to add to the flavor of your masterpiece. Pull the mat carefully and roll the seaweed. When you finish rolling, wet its edges in order to seal it. Cut the roll into even pieces. You can enjoy your homemade sushi with some soya sauce.
